In 2018, our team had been investing individually in farmland for over a decade. Because of our backgrounds in agriculture, we knew about farmland’s appeal — historically strong returns with low volatility — but recognized that the high cost of entry and the burden of farm management kept farmland inaccessible to the average investor. At the same time, we saw an opportunity to provide farmers with innovative routes to capital for expansion. Using our combined experience in finance, tech, and agriculture, we created the first accessible farmland investments platform.

He started his professional career working for C.H. Robinson, where he held various roles including sales and operations management. He then worked as a technical implementation manager for a transportation-based software as a service provider, LMS Logistics (acquired by Transplace in 2014). Prior to joining AcreTrader as the Director of Product and Software Development, Jon worked in engineering and technology at J.B. Hunt as a Senior Manager and Senior Product Manager where he was responsible for managing strategy for five products supported by 16 development squads and over 140 software developers. Jon also co-founded (and has since exited) a digital recruiting platform called Truck Driver Power. He obtained his undergraduate degree in supply chain management from Miami University of Ohio in 2005 and an MBA from the University of Arkansas in 2019.
