Just over 6.5% of Maine’s land area is dedicated to agricultural use, amounting to a total of 7,600 farms spread across 1.3 million acres. The majority of Maine’s agricultural revenue comes from Potatoes, but other commonly produced crops include Hay, Alfalfa, Oats, Barley, Corn, and Blueberries. Over 38% of the state’s agricultural sales came from the sale of Livestock, Poultry, and their products. With nearly 3,500 miles of coastline, Maine also produces a variety of aquaculture products including Marine Fish, Shellfish, and Aquatic Plants.
