New Hampshire Agriculture Overview

Just over 7% of New Hampshire’s land area is used for agricultural production and there are a total of 4,123 farms in the state with an average size of 103 acres. The majority of crop production in New Hampshire comes from Nursery Crops, Greenhouse Crops, Floriculture products, and Sod. Aside from crops, the primary commodity sold is milk, followed by cattle and calves. 29% of farms sell directly to consumers which is one of the largest percentages in the U.S. and 97% of New Hampshire’s farms are family farms.
