Sustainability is what we practice every day to keep land healthy and productive. AcreTrader trusts our farmers as partners to make wise decisions for their farms, and we’re here to support them in sustaining their businesses, the quality of their land, and the food we depend on.

We enroll our acres with Leading Harvest , a nonprofit that ensures land is being managed sustainably through science-based, 3rd-party audited standards. Our membership in Leading Harvest helps keep our sustainability efforts measurable and our properties compliant with their standards, moving us toward more sustainable outcomes for farmers, investors, and the land.
We assist farmers and their families in expanding their operations. We work closely with operators throughout the investment process, not just as tenants, but as collaborators and often as equity partners, helping them grow the value of their business as well as their acreage.
We support farmers in expanding USDA certified organic acres under operation and in transitioning acres to organic production for the first time. AcreTrader has raised tens of millions in capital for organic farming operations.
The development of new ground into farmable land is often limited by capital constraints - especially orchards, which require significant investment up front for preparation and planting of trees. In 2021, AcreTrader assisted Tyler Jewell and Gino Torlai of Delta Farm Management, both experienced farm managers, in raising funds for the development of a new 227-acre almond orchard in California’s Central Valley. Jewell and Torlai prepared extensive business and farming plans; they were then able to use the AcreTrader platform to partner with investors and make those plans a reality. Alameda Almond Ranch’s early development consists of ground preparation and irrigation installation, including a tile drainage system to promote proper water management practices and safely return run-off water back to appropriate drainage channels.
